This course provides an overview of basic copyright principles and their relationship to music publishing as well as the primary revenue streams available to independent songwriters and artists. Taught by experienced entertainment attorney and Berklee instructor Professor Tonya Butler, you will learn how to utilize different copyrights available in US copyright law for musical works to access four primary revenue streams. The course covers US copyright law basics, the difference between musical works and sound recordings, and how music artists can make money as owners of their own sound recordings.
