This course is part of Starting your Career with AWS Cloud.
This introductory course provides a hands-on approach to learning AWS, starting with the basics of creating a new AWS account, setting up an administrative user, and exploring the AWS Free Tier. Through demonstration and explainer videos, students learn how AWS services can be combined to create practical solutions for real-life scenarios across three major categories: Data, Operations, and Architecture. In the Data scenario, instructors demonstrate a machine learning solution that automatically redacts Personal Identifiable Information (PII) when retrieving data from Amazon S3 buckets. The Operations scenario covers configuring billing alerts to manage costs effectively. In the Architecture scenario, students learn how to configure Amazon VPC (Virtual Private Cloud) to create a more secure and resilient network topology with private subnets for sensitive workloads while implementing Multiple Availability Zones for improved reliability.

This course provides a practical introduction to Amazon Web Services (AWS) through hands-on demonstrations focused on real-world use cases. Students begin by learning the fundamentals of AWS account setup, including creating an administrative user and exploring the AWS Free Tier offerings. The curriculum then examines how AWS services can be combined to address common business scenarios across three key domains. In the data domain, students explore a machine learning solution that automatically identifies and redacts personal identifiable information (PII) when retrieving data from Amazon S3 storage, addressing critical data privacy concerns. The operations section focuses on implementing billing alerts and cost management strategies to optimize cloud spending. In the architecture domain, students learn to configure Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to create secure network topologies with private subnets for sensitive workloads while leveraging multiple availability zones to enhance system resilience. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on practical implementation and understanding how these cloud solutions address common IT challenges.
