Capstone: Following the Well Architected Framework

This capstone course provides comprehensive training on the AWS Well-Architected Framework, a fundamental set of best practices for designing and implementing cloud solutions. Structured in three modules, the curriculum begins with an introduction to the framework and deep dives into its first three pillars: operational excellence, reliability, and security. Students learn how to maintain operational health, ensure system recovery from failures, and protect information and systems. The course explores disaster recovery concepts and evaluates various recovery options in cloud environments. The second module covers the remaining pillars: performance efficiency, cost optimization, and sustainability. Students learn to use computing resources efficiently, avoid unnecessary costs, and minimize environmental impact of cloud workloads. This module includes practical experience with the AWS Well-Architected Tool, allowing students to assess real architectures against framework principles. The final module focuses on career preparation, covering AWS certification paths, hands-on skills development, portfolio creation, and interview techniques. Throughout the course, students apply the Well-Architected Framework to a capstone project, demonstrating their ability to design and evaluate cloud architectures according to industry best practices and preparing them for roles as AWS cloud consultants.
