Renowned Cultural Historian Specializing in Jewish History of the Greco-Roman Period
Steven Fine is the Dr. Pinkhos Churgin Professor of Jewish History and Director of the Yeshiva University Center for Israel Studies, specializing in the cultural history of Jewish life during the Greco-Roman period. His research focuses on the literature, art, and archaeology of ancient Judaism, as well as modern interpretations of Jewish antiquity. Fine has authored numerous publications, including "Art and Judaism in the Greco-Roman World," which received the Jordan Schnitzer Book Award, and is currently working on "The Menorah: A Biography." He is also known for his role in the Arch of Titus Digital Restoration Project and has curated significant exhibitions that explore Jewish history and culture. Through his teaching and scholarship, Fine aims to enhance understanding of the complexities of Jewish identity and heritage in ancient times.
