Distinguished Software Engineering Scholar and Security Systems Expert
Mahmoud Hammad serves as an Assistant Professor in the Software Engineering Department at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) and as deputy director of the Center for E-Learning and Open Educational Resources. His research focuses on software engineering, particularly software architecture, self-adaptive systems, mobile computing, software security, and machine learning. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Software Engineering from UC Irvine under Prof. Sam Malek's supervision, where he developed groundbreaking work on self-protecting Android systems against Inter-Component Communication attacks. His earlier education includes an M.S. in Software Engineering from George Mason University and a B.S. in Computer Science from Yarmouk University. His research has gained significant recognition, with his work on Android malware detection and code obfuscation being widely cited in academic literature. His publications include influential papers in prestigious venues such as the ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology and the International Conference of Software Engineering. Beyond academia, he brings valuable industry experience as a Software Engineer, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application in software development and security.
